We are seeking an experienced Technical Manager to join our buying team to manage the technical aspect of new and existing product development for our five food and drink own brand lines.

Reporting to the Group Buying, Own Brand and Technical Manager you will work closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure all own brand products are launched correctly and on time.

 

In this role you will:

• Be responsible for accurately checking and approving product specifications plus keeping all technical information up to date on the company systems.

• Co-ordinate technical sign-off of new products and current product improvement, including product testing from kick-off through to product launch.

• Ensure all back of pack information is accurate and in line with the technical labelling policies before it is sent to the artwork team to produce.

• Make sure all own brand products are safe, legal and comply with relevant statutory regulations.

• Ensure manufacturers BRC records are up to date on our systems.

• Manage own brand product testing and record the findings, communicate with the suppliers and put corrective actions in place if needed.

• Benchmark current and potential own brand products.

• Attend first production runs at manufacturers sites.

• Request own brand samples with relevant documents for checking and signing off.

• Manage all own brand complaints from customers.

• Keep up to date with all technical policies, labelling standards and regulatory changes, updating our group members if required.

• Managing EPR requirements, including gathering all our nine group members’ data and registering it on the relevant portal.

• Attend company events as and when required.

 

Qualifications & Experience:

• A minimum 3 years’ experience working in a similar role in the food industry is essential.

• Good understanding of BRC or other GFSI and GMP standards, HACCP, Hygiene, Food Safety.

• High attention to detail, methodical and well-organised and uses initiative to drive activities independently.

• A passion for excellent food and an appreciation of requirements to developing high quality products.

• Skills in the kitchen environment with cooking, baking and frying is essential.

• To be an enthusiastic team player, working together to deliver joint objectives.

• A confident communicator and relationship builder

• Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills and a real 'can do' attitude

• A degree in food science is preferred but not essential.
